No Place Like Home by Nicole Sobon ~ Review by Fallon
Authors Book Description:
Her death will reveal the truth. Savannah awoke in the woods, her skin covered with cuts, blood dripping down her body. But she didn't know what happened. She didn't know why she was there, or why she was bleeding. And she couldn't figure out why she was standing mere feet from her corpse. Everyone thought that she ran away; that she finally hit rock bottom. But Savannah's death will reveal the truth. And some secrets are better left hidden.
Please note that "No Place Like Home" is a young adult novella complete at approximately 20,000 words.
This is a story that shows the dynamics of a dysfunctional family. How people cope with loss in different ways. Sav is a girl who never felt good enough. Then there is Jeremy.her brother who is the opposite of Sav. This book starts off with Sav in the river trying not to drown. Then it transitions to before that moment. I loved the moment the stalker starts to send messages and the paranoia kicks in. I wish this part had actually gone on longer then it did because it was so great. Sav mom finally decides to act like a mom and picks Sav up from school and spends the day with her. She comes home to see Jeremy and then we fast forward to her being missing and the panic Jeremy feels about her disappearance. He knows something is wrong. In the last chapter we find out who was behind Sav's death but you will have to read it to find out. I am giving this book 3 1/2 out of 5 Stars. There were really great moments to this book. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars was the transition from past and now was not as smooth as I thought it could be.
