The Savage Blue (The Vicious Deep #2) by Zoraida Córdova ~ Review by Fallon

4 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

A storm is coming...

The ocean is a vicious place. Deeper and darker than Tristan could have imagined. Beneath its calm blue surface, an ancient battle is churning —and no one is safe.

In the quest for the Sea Throne, Tristan has already watched one good friend die. Now he must lead the rest on a dangerous voyage in search of the trident that will make him king. But while Tristan chases his destiny, the dark forces racing against him are getting stronger, and the sea witch of his nightmares is getting closer.

Battling sea dragons and savage creatures of the deep, Tristan needs his friends' support. But they each have their secrets, and a betrayal will force Tristan to choose between his crown and his best friend Layla — the only girl he's ever loved.

Fallon's Review:

This book picks up right where book 1 left off. Gone is the boy who walked the high school halls flirting with every girl. Tristan is growing up and taking the competition seriously. Lives depend on Tristan winning.

While searching for the oracle Tristan learns somethings are closer to home. Tristan makes promises that will change his life forever. The battles continues and wages on in The Savage Blue. The Silver Mermaid is not finished yet. The world will fall apart if the pieces to the Trident are not found and put back together. All magical creatures will be at risk.

I love Tristan's self discovery in this book. He realizes even though there are consequences he must follow the path put before him and there are consequences! My favorite supporting character is Brandon his cousin. He is fun and has an adventurous spirit. I also like Kai, who ends up playing a bigger role the more the series goes on. Layla is a spit fire and I like that about her character.

This book had me glued to the pages till I was done. You will be crying for book 3 when you are finished. Talk about a cliffhanger. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars cause I wish it had a little more humor like book 1. This is still a must read.
