#Giveaway The Taking (The Taking, #1) by @kimberlyderting ~ Review by Fallon

5 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

A flash of white light . . . and then . . . nothing.

When sixteen-year-old Kyra Agnew wakes up behind a Dumpster at the Gas ’n’ Sip, she has no memory of how she got there. With a terrible headache and a major case of déjà vu, she heads home only to discover that five years have passed . . . yet she hasn’t aged a day.

Everything else about Kyra’s old life is different. Her parents are divorced, her boyfriend, Austin, is in college and dating her best friend, and her dad has changed from an uptight neat-freak to a drunken conspiracy theorist who blames her five-year disappearance on little green men.

Confused and lost, Kyra isn’t sure how to move forward unless she uncovers the truth. With Austin gone, she turns to Tyler, Austin’s annoying kid brother, who is now seventeen and who she has a sudden undeniable attraction to. As Tyler and Kyra retrace her steps from the fateful night of her disappearance, they discover strange phenomena that no one can explain, and they begin to wonder if Kyra’s father is not as crazy as he seems. There are others like her who have been taken . . . and returned. Kyra races to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had, but what if the life she wants back is not her own?

Fallon's Review:

OMG Kimberly has my head spinning in the beginning of this book. Most books are a little predictable but The Taking has surprised me. Kyra has it all the future in sports and the perfect boyfriend. Kyra has a family she loves. One night on the way home from a game Kyra gets into an argument with her father about her future. The one decision to get out of the car changes her life forever. Would you give up on the one you love if they disappeared?

Kyra does not remember what happened and when she wakes up it is at a gas station. She travels home and finds nothing is the same. I kind of wanted to smack Kyra's mom and then the so emotional reunion when she sees her dad on page 35 was tear jerking. Not only has her parents changed but Kyra finds little Tyler all grown up. Her friend and boyfriend moved on with their plans for the future.

One of my favorite scenes is Kyra at the hospital; they go to draw Kyra's blood and I have to say that scene was so weird and awesome! Kimberly upped the ante with this Alien mystery. I love the fact this book was so very different then the other Alien books I have read lately. The chilling creep factor of the unknown and then the awesome self discoveries.

The Taking had me swooning. I am so in love with Tyler. I was so giddy. I squeaked at pg 100. Tyler and his beautiful art is waiting for her. Totally swoon worthy. This book had it all, fear, action, romance and adventure and tearful moments. I was literally in tears towards the end. I was dying for more in the end. I can not wait for book 2 in this series. This is a must read and I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you have not read this book you need to.
