Author Description:

The champion must not waver.
The champion must not fear.
The gate of darkness closes.

Elisa is a fugitive.

Her enemies have stolen the man she loves, and they await her at the gate of darkness. Her country is on the brink of civil war, with her own soldiers ordered to kill her on sight.

Her Royal Majesty, Queen Lucero-Elisa né Riqueza de Vega, bearer of the Godstone, will lead her three loyal companions deep into the enemy's kingdom, a land of ice and snow and brutal magic, to rescue Hector and win back her throne. Her power grows with every step, and the shocking secrets she will uncover on this, her final journey, could change the course of history.

But that is not all. She has a larger destiny. She must become the champion the world has been waiting for.

Even of those who hate her most.

Fallon's Review:

In a war that has gone on for so long, can one person change the hatred built up over centuries? Hector has been captured and Elisa will risk it all to bring him back. She will venture through the cold into enemy territory to save Hector and find a solution to bring peace to her lands.

This is an adventure that involves more danger then anyone thought they would face. Elisa and her friends find courage beyond what they thought possible in the face of danger and horror before them. Trust will be tested and will love prevail.

Elisa has become a powerful ruler and at times finds that power is relying on the ones you love and can trust the most. Her strength has never been her power and always her mind. Will the kingdom find it's peace?

This was everything  I expected and more. Rae Carson created another layer of world building in the area behind enemy lines. I felt the chill deep in my bones while reading about the dense cold in the trip from and to Invierne. The Bitter Kingdom lived up to my expectations and more! 5 Out of 5 Stars

  2. Thanks I am so glade I continued the series!

  3. I love your review. You give me an idea of the book without giving away everything. Sometimes reviews spoil the book too much.
