RIFTED Cover & Sneak Peek! - The Merworld Water Wars Series by Sutton Shields

 RIFTED Cover & Sneak Peek!

Wave Three of The Merworld Water Wars series, RIFTED, is just a fin flip away! To welcome the return of Marina, Troy, and the rest of the Mer-Nor gang, I thought it might be fun to crawl out of my shell and share the cover, hook, and summary with some wonderful book bloggers & authors I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know. <3

So, here we go! First up, the cover for RIFTED!

Someone wicked walks among them.

Heartbreak usually requires time to heal. For Marina Valentine, however, time has other plans: like sticking her with a shiny, stubborn accessory, sending her on a surprising date with someone other than Troy Tombolo, and introducing her lips to kisses that could save or destroy everything and everyone.

Marina and the rest of the Mer-Nor gang must find a way to push through the grief caused by The Dealer, for their next mission will take them on a dangerous, scandal-filled journey that may very well be the most significant to date: hunt down the evidence they need to prove once and for all that the tyrannical King Zale breached the water pact.

But with the shocking identity of The Dealer and overwhelming guilt weighing heavily on her, Marina struggles with frightening emotional urges and begins to question whether she is truly strong enough to succeed as the all-important Siren Savior.

Marina is in more danger than ever before—even inside the familiar study with her trusted friends—because unbeknownst to her, someone has been lurking about, waiting for the chance to undo everything the Mer-Nor gang has achieved…and with the Siren Savior’s doubt growing, that person’s chance has finally arrived.

Sneak Peek from RIFTED:

…Troy and I flew backwards, crashed through the front doors, and landed like lumps of rubble in the middle of the street. Troy, breathing heavily, pushed himself up on his elbows. “So…not exactly the date night I imagined.”

The Forgotten Ones

Book One in The Danaan Trilogy

About Laura:

Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known.

Giveaway! Secret (Elemental #4) by Brigid Kemmerer - Review by Fallon

3 out of 5 Stars
Author Description:

Nick Merrick is stretched to breaking point. He's trying to keep his grades sky-high or he won't get in to college. He's trying to keep his brother's business afloat or the Merricks will be out on the street. He's trying to keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his twin brother Gabriel - or he fears he'll lose his family. And he's trying to keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who is his 'girlfriend's' partner.

And then Quinn takes to hanging around his sworn enemy, and an Elemental Guide is counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. Storms are brewing. On all sides.

Fallon's Review:

Ok I do not know how to start this review. I love all the Elemental books. I am much more into the action aspect of this series. This got way to emotional for me. 1 character had way too much turmoil while another was just annoying. This was not what I was expecting from this book. I wanted  Nick's ability in the fore front not in the background. I understand there has to be character development I just wanted it to have built before this book and the whole book to not be about that. I hope book 5 brings back the core to there powers. I am giving this book 3 out of 5 stars cause it is still essential to the series but was not my favorite.

Waterfall by Amber Garr - Review by Fallon

4 out of 5 Stars
Author Description:
The water is gone. The wars have begun.

Clean water is a luxury most can no longer afford. Climate change, industrial sabotage, and greed have turned country against country as each one tries to provide for its citizens. Terrorist groups target desalinization plants and frustrated governments hunt those who work against them. Rationing, sequestering, and patrolling have become routine at a time when there are too many people and not enough resources.

While the world around them disintegrates into chaos, Zach and Vivienne hope that their life in a government-run complex will retain some semblance of normalcy. But when attacks on their water supplies bring war to their sheltered community, they must accept their new fate. Stay and fight or flee and endure—it’s a difficult decision with lasting consequences.

Will they choose what’s safe? Or will they choose to survive?

Fallon's Review:

I finished Waterfall the prequel to Waterproof. I loved it. There were some great things. I have to say my favorite thing was Vee and the sword at the end. I loved that. I liked the struggle with their identities, because they were only teenagers. I love how the opening focus was water and the enforced regulations. Those were some of my favorite things.

I wish this went a little longer into there struggles without water and food. I think if it was longer it might be easy to market as well in print. I am still in love with this entire series and thought the writing was so great visually. This is an amazing Dystopian series and if you have not picked it up you need to. I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars just because I wished it was longer.

Buy these two great books at any of the links provided below!

Entice by Carrie Jones - Review by Fallon

1 out of 5 Stars

Author description:

Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together for ever. But that's not quite how things have worked out. For starters, Nick has gone. He has been taken to the mythical place for warriors known as Valhalla. Zara and her friends might be able to get him back, it's just not going to be easy. Meanwhile a group of evil pixies is devastating Bedford, with more teens going missing every day. An all-out war seems imminent, and the good guys need all the warriors they can find. But even if Zara and her friends do discover the route to Valhalla, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. When she finds Nick, will he even want to go with her? Especially since she hasn't turned into just any pixie... She's Astley's queen.

Fallon's Review:

I am not a fan of this series. I thought I would continue and it would get better. I think even for young adults the way the tone is set is very childish. The story is not focused and seem to have too much going on. I think if the story had just been about pixies and humans or skin changers and humans it might have worked better. I just think the 3 do not co-inside in this story. On a positive note the covers are stunning. I am giving this book 1 out of 5 stars. I will not be finishing the series.

Praise for Jennifer L Armentout's - Don't Look Back
“This engrossing thriller packs a heady atmospheric punch with plenty of theatrical scares,” Kirkus Reviews
“Armentrout has written another winner. From the first page to the last, she builds both terror and confusion to the point where readers will be hooked and on the edge of their seat. This standalone contains all of Armentrout’s usual trademarks– a strong and determined heroine, witty comments and hot guys–but she adds in an extra layer by ratcheting up the suspense to the highest degree and follows it up with an ending no one will see coming.” RT BOOK REVIEWS 4 1/2 Stars TOP PICK

Excerpt: I didn’t recognize the name on the street sign. Nothing about the rural road looked familiar or friendly. Tall, imposing trees and overgrown weeds choked the front of the dilapidated home. Windows were boarded up. There was a gaping hole where the front door had been. I shivered, wanting to be far away from here…wherever here was. Walking felt harder than it should be, and I stumbled off the chilly asphalt, wincing as sharp gravel dug into my feet. My bare feet? I stopped and looked down. Chipped pink nail polish peeked through the dirt…and blood. Mud caked the legs of my pants, leaving the hems stiff. It made sense, seeing as how I wasn’t wearing any shoes, but the blood…I didn’t understand why there was blood staining the knees of my jeans. My vision clouded and dulled, as if a gray film had been dropped over my eyes. As I stared at the weathered asphalt under my feet, large and smooth rocks replaced the tiny stones. Something dark and oily seeped over the rocks, slipping through the cracks. Sucking in a sharp gasp, I blinked and the image was gone. Hands trembling, I raised them. They were also covered with dirt and scratches. My nails were broken, bloodied. A silver ring wrapped, encased in soil, around my thumb. Air froze in my chest as my gaze crawled over my arms. The sleeves of my sweater were torn, revealing pale flesh covered in bruises and gashes. My legs started to shake as I swayed forward. I tried to remember how this had happened, but my head was empty—a black void where nothing existed. A car drove by, coasting to a stop a few feet in front of me. Somewhere in the trenches of my subconscious, I recognized the flashing red and blue lights as a source of safety. Elegantly scrawled along the black-and-gray side of the cruiser were the words ADAMS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT. Adams County? A flash of familiarity came and went. The driver’s door opened, and a deputy stepped out. He said something into the radio onhis shoulder before he looked at me. “Miss?” He started around the cruiser, taking tentative steps. He looked young for a deputy. Barely out of high school and able to carry a gun seemed wrong somehow. Was I in high school? I didn’t know. “We’ve received some calls into dispatch concerning you,” he said gently. “Are you okay?” I tried to respond, but only a hoarse squeak came out. Clearing my throat, I winced as the motion scratched and pulled. “I…I don’t know.” “Okay.” The deputy held up his hands as he approached me, as if I were a skittish deer about to bolt. “My name is Deputy Rhode. I’m here to help you. Do you know what you’re doing out here?” “No.” Knots formed in my belly. I didn’t even know where here was. His smile strained. “What’s your name?” My name? Everyone knew their name, but as I stared at the deputy, I couldn’t answer his question. The knots started twisting more. “I don’t…I don’t know what my name is.” He blinked, and the smile was completely gone. “You don’t remember anything?” I tried again, concentrating on the empty space between my ears. That was how it felt. And I knew that wasn’t good. My eyes started to tear up. “Miss, it’s okay. We’ll get you taken care of.” He reached out, lightly taking hold of my arm. “We’ll get this sorted.” Deputy Rhode led me around the back of his cruiser. I didn’t want to sit behind the Plexiglas, because I knew that wasn’t good. Only bad people sat behind the glass in police cruisers. I wanted to object, but before I could say anything, he settled me into the seat and wrapped a coarse blanket around my shoulders. Before he locked me in the bad part of the car, he knelt and smiled reassuringly. “Everything’s going to be okay.” But I knew he was lying, trying to make me feel better. It didn’t work. How could everything be okay when I didn’t know my own name?

5 out of 5 Stars

Authors Description:

All her life, clever Aemi has been a slave in the Village of the Rocks, a place where the sea and sky meet. She’s heard the stories about the fabled People of the Sea, a people who possess unimaginable technology who live below the waves in the dark, secret places of the ocean. But she never dreamed those stories were true.
When a ship emerges from the ocean and men burn her village, Aemi is captured, and enslaved below the waves in Itlantis, a world filled with ancient cities of glass and metal, floating gardens, and wondrous devices that seem to work magic. To make matters worse, her village nemesis, the stuck-up mayor’s son Nol, was captured with her, and they are made servants in the same household beneath the sea.

Desperate to be free, Aemi plots her escape, even going so far as to work with Nol. But the sea holds more secrets than she realizes, and escape might not be as simple as leaving...

Fallon's Review:

Aemi lives in a place called Village of the Rocks. She is a slave and ignored and treated horrible by a boy her age in her village Nol. Everything changes for Aemi in the blink of an eye. A ship comes from the ocean in the middle of the night and takes Aemi and Nol.They travel to a world under the depths of the ocean. Nol ends up being taken to the same house and made a slave with her. Bitter and enslaved these two have a lot to figure out about the new world they have been taken too. This city of technology and beauty. Aemi who only had 1 true friend Kit on the surface become torn when she builds friends with the people who captured her. She made a promise to find Kit and yet she feels more at home in this new world.

I loved this book so much. This was a breath of fresh air. I was glued and could not put it down. Nothing was predictable which I loved. The character building was so great and I look forward to reading more of there developments in future books. In the end I was crying for book 2 and am counting the days till it is released. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 Stars. This is a unique book and a must read.

Unforgotten (Unremembered 2) by Jessica Brody - Review by Fallon

4.5 Stars out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Some memories are better left forgotten...

After a daring escape from the scientists at Diotech who created her, Seraphina believes she is finally safe from the horrors of her past. But new threats await Sera and her boyfriend, Zen, at every turn as Zen falls prey to a mysterious illness and Sera’s extraordinary abilities make it more and more difficult to stay hidden. Meanwhile, Diotech has developed a dangerous new weapon designed to apprehend her. A weapon that even Sera will be powerless to stop. Her only hope of saving Zen’s life and defeating the company that made her is a secret buried deep within her mind. A secret that Diotech will kill to protect. And it won’t stay forgotten for long.

Packed with mystery, suspense, and romance, this riveting second installment of Jessica Brody’s Unremembered trilogy delivers more heart-pounding action as loyalties are tested, love becomes a weapon, and no one’s memories are safe.

Fallon's Review:

I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review. Sera and Zen believe they are safe from Diotech in the year 1609. Sera does not really fit in, in 1609 and has to even slow down her walking speed to appear normal. Zen becomes very sick. Part of the beginning of this book was a little predictable. Yet I could not put it down.Zen and Sera do not have there happily ever after and Diotech is far from being done with Sera. There is a new character introduced to this book Kaelen. I am in love with this character. I felt the journey he took and I loved the complexity of this character. Sera only hope of saving Zen’s life is to work with Kaelen.

I liked the first book in this series Unremembered and thought the only thing it was lacking was sentiment. Now this book drew me in with the emotion and story. Like I said above I loved Kaelen story. His self discovery is endearing. I would definitely recommend this book. I am giving this 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Cover Reveal of Charming by Krystal Wade

Popular YA author Krystal Wade has a thrilling new young adult novel coming out in October, 2014! The spine-tingling suspense in CHARMING will get your heart rate up. We promise you.

We have a fun jigsaw puzzle of the cover for you guys! Go on, give it a try!

...but if you can’t wait, just scroll down and take a peek at final cover of CHARMING!

I’m happily married to the love of my life (don’t gag) and raising three beautiful children in the gorgeous state of Virginia. We live just outside Washington, D.C., and every day I wake up to find myself stuck in traffic trying to get there.
The horrid commute gives me plenty of time to zone out and think about my characters in full, brilliant details (I’m a safe driver; don’t worry). Stories give me a way to forget about the sometimes smelly strangers sitting next to me on the fifty mile trek into town (I pick up hitchhikers every day. True story. Check out www.slug-lines.com if you don’t believe me).
I’ve been a part of organized hitchhiking for nearly fifteen years, but that’s just one small aspect of my oh-so-large life. When I’m not working, commuting, or chasing after my three children (four if you count the man), you can usually find me outside talking to my chickens like they’re the cutest things in the world (they are), or training my amazing dogs how to herd said chickens (which they love), or curled up on the sofa with a good book (why can’t that be 100% of the time?).
I hope you love my stories (or just like them a little; that would be okay, too). And I hope that one day you find your passion, because there’s nothing in life better than doing what you love while surrounded by people you love.
<3 Krystal
