Ashlyn is about to discover what she'd thought to be true her whole life, wasn't, and the truth, too fantastical to imagine. Secrets lurk beneath the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe, secrets that will change Ashlyn's life forever.

Fallon's Review:

Tatiana is best-friends with Ashlyn. Tatiana has a twin brother named Fin who Ashlyn is completely obsessive about. One day Tatiana and Fin disappear. Ashlyn wonders what happened to them and becomes more suspicious when two men show up in their house claiming to be family.

I loved the fact that this story was a mermaid mystery that you had to keep reading to uncover. The suspense of this story made it unique and a stand out. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 Stars.

4 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

A kingdom on the brink of war. A king on the fringes of insanity. A family running for their lives. Or will someone else make the choice for them if they can't decide? Enter the watery world of treachery, greed, and the binding mer kiss as the story continues with Evergreen, book two of Mer Tales.

Fallon's Review:

This book picks up where Everblue left off. Ash and Fin are now separated by distance. Counting the seconds they can be together. Fin is traveling with his family even when hie heart is with Ash.

These two have life changing decisions to make. Will Ash leave everything behind and join the world under the sea or will Fin give up his Fin for Human legs on land.

I almost love the longing of these two being separated. I was glued to the pages all though the night. I thought the cover was so breathtaking. I amm giving this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Author Description:

With one kiss, Tatiana has discovered a love for a man she’d hated—the prince of Natatoria. Through the botched rescue attempt by her father against this union, an army of rebels has revealed their identity and intentions—treason. When the King is fatally injured, Azor takes things into his own hands. No one is safe as mers are forced to take sides. Betamers take the blame, including Tatiana’s family’s closest friend, Badger, and the punishment is death.

Caught between the bond and her true feelings, Tatiana, the future Queen, must overcome the promise to fight for what’s right and uncover the truths of the past or all will become Everlost.

Fallon's Review:

This 3rd book flashes back and is now from Tatiana’s POV. You also see into Azor’s thinking. Everything changes for Tatiana's after one kiss. finds herself torn between how much she hates Azor at times and her unwanted love for him.

Azor was an easy character to hate and I laughed at times while reading at his expense. This book did get a little descriptive on the genitalia and how to arouse the opposite sex. I would not recommend this for young teens.

I loved this fresh perspective to the series and the fact that we got a more clear picture as to everything that happened. This book tied up everything in such an effortless way. I loved the struggles that Tatiana has to face. This book really pulled at your heart strings. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Author Description:

But Tor also has a tantalizing secret and Dori is determined to find out what it is. The truth is crazier than her wildest imaginations and more dangerous, too. Dori has new enemies, and they will do anything to get to her.

Her life, her dreams and her love for Tor are all weighing in the balance. Will Dori risk it all in order to have it all?

Fallon's Review:

Dori is a teen girl living in Canada. Her best friend a boy named Colby has nicknamed her Seaweed. Colby has a huge crush on Dori but she falls hard for the mysterious new boy in town Tor. I really felt torn in this love triangle. At times I was falling under Dori and Tor love spell and then there was times my heart was breaking for Colby.

This book was true to the stupid and non-supportive decisions that teens make everyday. I liked the Mer world and felt certain aspect were unique. This was fun and flirty and a little cliche at times. Overall I thought it was a fun read for anyone who loves Mermaid books. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 Stars.

Fierce Reads Tour in Vero Beach FL with Authors Anna Banks, Katie Finn, Lindsay Smith and Marie Rutkoski

On May 20th we got to attend the Fierce Reads tour!

Anna Banks Highlights:

There were the hysterical highlights mainly called Anna Banks!

Some of my favorite things we learned about Anna Banks:

She loves Sasquatch, she believes he is real and so are mermaids. She thinks Umpa Lumpa's are mythological creatures LOL. That Marie Rutkoski is out to get her. They were all like siblings picking on each other.

She explains "outlining as liking being in a shower with your Bra on. You know something is wrong and you feel restricted at a time you should feel free".

When asked about her favorite thing about being an Author she said, "it is like a cheesecake sampler where you want to try all the flavors".

When asked what super power she would want to have she said, "She would want to be able to eat whatever she wanted and her enemy get fat from it."."Top that!"

When asked what inspired her to be a writer she stated, "that she read an Author's book and thought she could do that, because it was such an easy read. The writing seemed effortless." Anna confessed though that, that Author "taught me on that."

Anna banks is working on a new venture called Joyride

Marie Rutkoski Highlights:

Marie Rutkoski was the poised well spoken scholarly type.

Fun facts Marie tried to learn how to fence but her husband was better at it so she never went back because she said, "it was humiliating."

When asked about what Super Power she would want she stated that she has been trying to learn the Cello and that she wishes she was so great overnight.

Marie Rutkoski said, "she is not in to paranormal books and she does not really read or write about them."

Marie maintains a full time job even while pursuing her writing career.

Marie Rutoski is working on The Winner's Crime

Lindsay Smith Highlights:

Like Marie, Lindsay also maintains a full time job while supporting her writing career.

She mentioned her next project as being in the same genre as Kristin Cashore's Graceling series and I was sold.

When asked what super power she would want she said, "Well definitely not to read peoples minds."

Lindsay does not outline when writing and a fun fact was that actually none of the Authors on the panel outline.

She does not like to read very many summer books she prefers a colder climate type of book.

Katie Finn Highlights:

Katie mentioned, "She loves to write feel good reads that anyone can pick up and enjoy at the beach for the summer."

Katie Finn was teased by Anna Banks about her other Author name Morgan Matson so I teased back when they opened up the Q&A about Anna Banks other Author name as Anna Scarlet. LOL

Katie Finn when asked about the super power she would want she said, "She would want to be like Mystique, so she could turn into anyone she wanted too."

Her dream job would be to be the person who got to sit in an office thinking of the names for nail polish.

We had such a great time at the Fierce Reads Vero Beach Event here are pictures of our Highlingts!

Pretty in Pearls (Fins #3.5) by Tera Lynn Childs ~ Review by Fallon

5 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Undersea romance with captivating merboys, deep friendship, and spectacular pearls.

Set in Tera Lynn Childs’ fin-flicking world that began with Forgive My Fins, this 100-page digital novella focuses on Periwinkle Wentletrap, Princess Lily’s best friend, and is perfect for fans of mermaids, light romance, and mythology retellings.

As Princess Lily’s emissary, Peri works hard to make sure her best friend knows all the goings on in the underwater kingdom of Thalassinia. The upcoming Sea Harvest Dance means plenty of fun for them, too, including shopping for jewels, trims, and dress making supplies. Peri especially loves the pearls she finds at Thalassinia’s marketplace—and she might be falling head over fins for Riatus, the thoughtful pearl trader who looks like a dashing pirate.

When Lily realizes her friend has a crush, she is determined to help them get together in time for the dance—except her matchmaking efforts backfire, sweeping Peri into dangerous depths and tangled in confusing tides. Should Peri give up on Riatus and find a different date to the Sea Harvest Dance, or will they finally find a way to float along the same current?

Fallon's Review:

I loved this book so much. I am hoping Tera Lynn childs puts this short into print. It was actually pretty long for a short story. The feature of this short story is princess Lily's best friend Peri. Peri has always been the loyal hard working best friend who watched Lily find her perfect match. Now is Peri's turn to find who she wants to be with.

This was cheeky and adorable. Reading Tera Lynn Childs Fins series always puts me in a good mood. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is a must read and I hope Tera Lynn continues with these amazing stories.

Giveaway ~ Promises, Betrayal and Arise (Syrenka Series) by Amber Garr Signed Trilogy~ Review by Fallon

5 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

Sometimes following your heart can end up destroying the ones you love. When seventeen-year-old Eviana Dumahl is faced with the responsibility of an arranged marriage and clan leadership, she is forced to choose between the life required of a mermaid and one of a teenage girl simply infatuated with the wrong guy. Kain, her devoted fiance, would make a wonderful husband except that she's been in love with Brendan, a shape-shifting selkie, ever since they were kids. Choosing to abandon her family, her clan, and her life with Kain will have dire consequences far beyond anything she could have imagined. A war is brewing amongst the clans and Eviana unwittingly becomes a pawn in the intricate schemes of a twisted mastermind. With Brendan's life on the line, she has no choice but to involve those she once considered friends. Amidst encountering senseless tragedies and immense loss, Eviana discovers that she is more valuable as a clan leader than anyone ever suspected. Her survival is not only dependent upon the loyalty of her friends, but also on her acceptance of a life she so adamantly tried to escape. Promises is the first book of The Syrenka Series trilogy following Eviana and her friends through the perils of growing up in a discrete world that inherently threatens human society.

Fallon's  Review:

This is one of my favorite mermaid series! Amber Garr does not disappoint with this book, the fantasy and romance start from the moment you start this book to the end. Amber's writing is filed with so much detail and she has an imagination unlike anyone else.

Eviana is a mermaid in love with the wrong person. She is arranged to marry Kain. The problem is she has loved Brandon a selkie for as long as she can remember. Her family and all the mermaid clan is opposed to that happening.

There is one scene and I won't spoil any thing but when Eviana has to go away with Kain, and they stay on a house boat together. Let us just say I feel in love with one of my number one book boyfriends at that point and I totally swooned. I loved the banter and chemistry through out the book.

I loved this book and are in love with Kain. I am just saying. This book was so well written and with so many mermaid stories out there this was a stand alone. It was imaginative and very original. I loved the other creatures introduced. I won't spoil cause you should read it but some have not been in other mermaid books I have read recently. So pick this up and you will be glued from start to finish.

I am giving Promises 5 out of 5 Stars. Amber Garr created this world with no detail left out. Amber's imagination is out of this world and will pull you in and not let go. This is a must read.

5 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

Life as a mermaid can be suffocating. Eviana Dumahl has returned home as a clan leader, an orphan, and a heartbroken teenage girl. Her parents are dead and her boyfriend, Brendan, has decided that he needs some time away. While battling her inner turmoil, Eviana is forced into the war that Lucian Sutherland has incited amongst her own kind. With the help of Kain, her friend and formally betrothed, the two work together to prove that they deserve their birthrights as young merfolk leaders. When the Council requests a demonstration of Eviana's mermaid powers, she finds herself with an opportunity to win back Brendan's heart. But her orders to train with a repulsive merman and the presence of an attractive new suitor challenges Eviana to embrace her leadership and resist temptation. Lucian is after her, and no one seems to understand why. Loyalties are tested as the casualties increase, showing Eviana that sometimes it is impossible to delineate between friends and enemies. Betrayal is the second book of The Syrenka Series trilogy following Eviana and her friends as they navigate through the challenges of existing in a secret world.

Fallon's Review:

I always get nervous after a really great first book if the rest of the series is going to continue to meet the expectations that have been set. Amber Garr proved with Betrayal that she can and did, she far exceeded my expectations with this amazing sequel. It was flirty, full of action, and made you feel so many different emotions!

Eviana has come back broken and alone. She has to patch up the mess she left in the wake of her absence. Brandon wants time to sort things out. Eviana gave up everything and has a hard time with Brandon's decision. With power hungry enemies Eviana has to get it together and fast.

Eviana has to prove herself to the counsel. In the process hopes to win back Brandon. Then enters the new hotty Graham. With his accent and flirtatious ways. You will be swooning. When Graham is forced to to accompany her while Eviana trains so she can reach her potential and stop anyone else she cares about from getting hurt, things definitely heat up!

I loved this book. It is the most beautiful mermaid world. I am still in love with Kain, but Graham will definitely have you swooning and heart stop a few beats! I mean who doesn't love someone who is sure of himself, at least sometimes! But Kain is still my book boyfriend!!! I love the fact that Kain finds his power and new sense of strength. This is a great book series and I highly recommend picking it up. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars! Amber did not disappoint with this 2nd

5 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

After the betrayal of those closest to her, Eviana Dumahl struggles to cope with her new reality. Kidnapped, broken, and confused, she is forced to engage in a war that will alter merfolk politics forever. With her estranged father leading the charge, Eviana has no choice but to stand by his side. Her continued existence hinges on the acceptance of the power growing inside her, even when that means embracing the family’s dark lineage.

Kain Matthew will sacrifice the world for Eviana. And he is not alone. As time runs out, her friends fight to save her life and theirs. An unlikely alliance gives them the edge they need to take a stand, although it keeps Eviana’s heart trapped in the past. A new discovery explains some of her previous mistakes, but it may not be enough to stop her father’s plans. Merfolk, selkies, and water sprites work together to save their kind, only in this final battle, not everyone will survive.

In the striking series conclusion, Eviana will learn the true meaning of power, sacrifice, and love.

Fallon's Review:

Amber Garr managed to have a series where all three books were equally as outstanding!!! This amazing final book ended leaving us breathless! I absolutely loved this series it was  well written, full of romance, fantasy, and imagination.

In this Final book there is tragedy, love, faith, romance, strength, betrayal. So much happens and nobody is the same. With Eviana kidnapped by her father. He wants her to unite with him and take over.

Kain will risk everything to rescue Eviana. Brandon still is in love with Eviana and always will be and he joins in the fight. Graham wants Eviana to join him as well. Eviana will have to choose who she belongs with. Nothing will be the same in this epic conclusion.

I loved this book.I jumped right into this book right after reading Betrayal and was not able to put it down. This series was addicting. I still love Kain though, lol. I liked the glimpse we got into more supporting characters in this final book. This is a must read for anyone who loves mermaid stories. Amber Garr has created such a unique and incredible world. This whole book is a 5 out of 5 stars , along with the whole series!

Giveaway ~ Daughters of The Sea by Kathryn Lasky ~ Review by Fallon

3 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Daughters of the Sea tells the story of 3 mermaid sisters who are separated at birth by a storm and go on to lead three very different lives. Book 1 is about Hannah, who spent her early days in an orphanage and is now a scullery maid in the house of rich, powerful family. She is irresistibly drawn to the sea and through a series of accidents and encounters discovers her true identity. Hannah realizes that she must keep the truth a secret but she also knows that soon she will have to make the choice - to be a creature of the land or the sea.

Fallon's Review:

Well while I love Mermaids and reading about the mythology of them this book took way to long to build up to that point. I liked the last part of the book but felt the ending was not closure especially since it had finally built to a point and then ended. The reason I say closure is while the other 2 books in the series mention Hannah she is not the main focus. I did however like the relationships Hannah develops later on in this book. I am giving this book 3 out of 5 stars and continued reading the series and was glad I did.

4 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Book 2 in Kathryn Lasky's shimmering quartet about mermaid sisters and supernatural love.

May feels her life drying up. The sea calls to her, but her parents forbid her from swimming. She longs for books, but her mother finds her passion for learning strange. She yearns for independence, but a persistent suitor, Rudd, wants to tame her spirited ways. Yet after her fifteenth birthday, the urge to break free becomes overpowering and May makes a life-changing discovery. She does not belong on land where girls are meant to be obedient. She is a mermaid-a creature of the sea.

For the first time, May learns what freedom feels like-the thrill of exploring both the vast ocean and the previously forbidden books. She even catches the eye of Hugh, an astronomy student who, unlike the townspeople, finds May anything but strange. But not everyone is pleased with May's transformation. Rudd decides that if can't have May, no one will. He knows how to destroy her happiness and goes to drastic measures to ensure that May loses everything: her freedom and the only boy she's ever loved.

Fallon's Review:

I liked May's story so much more then Hannah. I liked the fact that May became very sure of herself and even though at times she wondered where her place was among people she knew her place in the sea. I love May's passion for books and of course most who are reading this can relate.

I love Hugh and May's relationship. I found Rudd a little creepy which was probably the point. This book was fun and endearing. I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars. When reading May you will be glad you continued on with the story.

Author Description:

A choice between love and survival . . .Lucy's family is excited to spend the summer in Bar Harbor, Maine. Her minister father is pleased to preside over such a prestigious congregation, and his social-climbing wife is ecstatic at the chance to find a rich husband for her daughter.Yet Lucy wants nothing to do with the Bar Harbor social scene; she's simply excited to spend the summer by the sea, watching the waves from her favorite spot on the cliff. Despite having never gone swimming, Lucy feels an intense connection to the ocean, and meets a handsome ship-builder who shows Lucy a world she's never known, yet somehow always longed for. However, her mother will stop at nothing to keep Lucy and the ship builder apart, even if it means throwing Lucy into the arms of a wealthy man with a dangerous secret. Can Lucy break free and embrace her destiny as a daughter of the sea? Or is she doomed to waste away in a gilded cage, slowly dying of a broken heart?

Fallon's Review:

So I really liked this book but am hoping there is another since so many things were not answered at the end. I emailed Kathryn Lasky and she confirmed later in the future she will be continuing this series. She has other commitments right now though.

I liked the fact that Lucy grew up very different from her sisters. Her parents were a trip to read. They were so different and her Mother is not very maternal. Lucy had such a real way about her. She wanted to be around people who weren't part of the fake society her parents wanted to be apart of. The ending will leave you wanting more. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars and I can not wait to continue reading the series in the future.

Giveaway Signed Trilogy Forgive My Fins and (Fins 1-3) by Tera Lynn Childs ~ Review by Fallon

5 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Seventeen-year-old Lily, half-mermaid and half-human, has been living on land and attending high school, where she develops a crush on a boy but is afraid to tell him of her true destiny as the ruler of the undersea kingdom of Thalassinia.

Fallon's Review:

Lily has had a crush on Brody from a far. Lily is half human, half mermaid. Her mother was a human and her Father is the King. That makes Lily a princess. Her mother has passed and she wants to understand the mother she never knew and the life she lived. Lily goes to stay with her aunt on land, but know one is to know she is living on land. Lily wants to connect with her human side. She is going to school at Sea View High.

Lily is from a under sea kingdom called Thalassinia. When Lily found out her mom was Human she couldn't stay in her kingdom. Now that she is living with her aunt she encounters an annoying neighbor Quince Fletcher. Mermaids are not really the dating type. If a mermaid kisses someone they are bonded. Lily wants to win Brody's love and be bonded to him. One night in the dark a mistake happens and Lily kisses someone else. I will not say who because that would ruin the story for you.

I loved the flirty fun bubbly nature of this story. This was like a guilty pleasure. The drama, fantasy and emotion keep this book flowing and make you glued from beginning to end. You will have to jump right into book 2 once you put this book down. I have read all 3 books in this series and loved them all. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is a book I will pick up over and over again.

The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu ~ Review by Fallon

4 Out of 5 Stars

Author Description:

Everyone has a lot to say about Alice Franklin, and it’s stopped mattering whether it’s true. The rumors started at a party when Alice supposedly had sex with two guys in one night. When school starts everyone almost forgets about Alice until one of those guys, super-popular Brandon, dies in a car wreck that was allegedly all Alice’s fault. Now the only friend she has is a boy who may be the only other person who knows the truth, but is too afraid to admit it. Told from the perspectives of popular girl Elaine, football star Josh, former outcast Kelsie, and shy genius Kurt, we see how everyone has a motive to bring – and keep – Alice down.

Fallon's Review:

I received this ARC from Fan Fic Giveaway! When I started reading this story it definitely had it's shock value to it. It was like mean girls times 100. However I thought it ended up reminding me of books like The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was just reminded me of the things kids do and the self discovery along the way.

Alice went to a party and is accused of sleeping with two guys in one night. The problem is one of the guys dies in a car accident not to long after. People are pointing the finger at Alice. This story takes rumors to a whole new level.

Josh is Brandon's best-friend, who now is dead. Josh was at the party and witnessed Alice heading up stairs with Brandon. Elaine dated Brandon off and on again. Elaine is the most popular girl in school but still had jealous tendencies towards Alice. Kelsie is Alice's best-friend who has anxiety on not being popular. Kurt has been in love with Alice from afar for so long.

This story takes Josh, Elaine, Kelsie, Kurt and then Alice and combines their POV's and the events that unfold. I enjoyed this story and thought as emotions and background stories became clearer the story just got better and better. I am giving this book 4 Out of 5 Stars.
