Ash: A Destined Novel
by Shani Petroff & Darci Manley
Publisher: Polis Books
Release Date: March 17th 2015

Destiny is pre-determined. It is strictly monitored. It is unchangeable.
Or is it?

Madden’s life is a whirlwind of privilege and perks. Born into the elite Purple ring, she is fated to be a Minister of the Seven. Although her position comes with the burden of great responsibility, she’s nothing if not confident in her future. After all, Destiny Specialists have determined how she will fulfill her life's purpose, and they are never wrong.

Her classmate Dax, an Ash, is clinging to the opposite end of the spectrum. While everyone around her knows what destiny awaits them, Dax’s fate is…missing. Isolated and ignored, she refuses to let her lack of status define her.

After a stunning twist of fate, Dax and Madden’s paths intertwine in ways neither could have possibly imagined. The two are forced to question their own past, present and future as they realize who they are is not necessarily who they were meant to be.

ASH, the first book in the Destined series, is an unforgettable journey into an alternate future which will leave readers wondering just how much we can control our own fate.

Destiny is calling. Will you fight for yours?

This story has rotating POV's one from a girl named Madden who is a Purple which is the top level of importance in this dystopian society. There are 7 rings all ranging in color and depend on the importance of ones destiny. Everyone's destiny is determined at birth and Madden is to be the future leader of the people.

Dax is a blank and no destiny showed up when she was born. Her brothers are purples and her family lives in the yellow district. This family is divided by color. That does not seem to effect her brothers Aladan and Link. They love Dax and view her as an equal. Unfortunately her mother believes in the system and at times is harsh on Dax treating her like an embarrassment and burden.

Both these lives intertwine in unexpected and gripping ways. Nothing is as it seems especially when the power of an entire society hangs in the balance. This dystopian society reminded me of many others I had read but it had fresh fast passed moments that kept you hooked. It also had some very emotional and raw moments that seemed to really set this story off and make it a force all of it's own. I can not wait to read more in this world. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. A must read for dystopian fans who are looking or a new great read!
