Goodreads Description:

Romantic and action-packed, The Replaced is the gripping second installment in the Taking trilogy.

Kyra hasn't been the same since she returned from her mysterious five-year disappearance. Now, on the run from the NSA, Kyra is forced to hide out with others who, like her, have been Returned. Yet she is determined to find Tyler, the boy she loves who was also abducted—all because of her. When her group intercepts a message that Tyler might still be alive but is in the hands of a shadowy government organization that experiments on the Returned, Kyra knows it's a risk to go after him. What if it's a trap? And worse, what if the returned Tyler isn't the same boy she lost?

Perfect for fans of The Fifth Wave and the Body Finder series, The Replaced is both chilling and explosive, with creepy, otherworldly elements and twisty, psychological thrills that will have you questioning what exactly it means to be human.

Fallon's Review:

Thank you Kimberly Derting and HarperCollins for providing me with an ARC for review. I loved The Taking and was so excited to get a chance to continue the story. This in no way effected my opinion in my review.

Kyra has had to face one drama after the next after being taken and then returned after 5 years. The taken live there life in hiding and on the run from the government. Kyra soon finds out that the government is singling her out and she may not be like the rest of the taken. She starts to develop a new ability unlike the others.

When Kyra is upset or has a hightened state of emotion things tend to move. She struggles to gain control of this new ability and keeps it hidden from  everyone but Simon who tells Kyra not to tell anyone.

Simon is a leader and shows interest in Kyra. Tyler has not returned and Simon wants to know how long is she willing to wait. I actually really like Simon his character is snarky, sassy and fun. He challenges Kyra and protects her at every chance he can. However, I think I will always swoon for Tyler. At times my heart felt very confused.

That being said this was non stop action thrill ride I could not get enough of. I could not help but swoon and fall under the spell of Kimberly's writing. I loved every minute and just when you think you will not be shocked Kimberly gives you the cliff hanger ending that has you screaming OMG I need book 3 like yesterday! I am giving the taking 5 Out of 5 stars.

  1. I just finished it and while it definitely is an action-packed one but it didn't really reel me in like The Taking did, I liked the first book much more but the twists and reveals here were super awesome.
