Goodreads Description:
"I have no idea what is truth and what is fiction. I'm all I've got now. I can't trust anyone."
World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

Fallon's Series Review:

Thank you HarperCollins for providing me with a ARC of Until the Beginning for a fair and honest review. This in no way effected my review.

Both books rotate POV's one from Juneau and one from Miles. These two come from completely different worlds. Juneau has been sheltered all her life not thinking there is anything outside her community. Miles is a spoiled rebellious teenager seeking attention. These two come together and change each others entire life.

After the End was so different then most dystopians out there I found myself intrigued throughout. This story had a Sci-fi twist to it. Juneau and her clan don't age as fast, don't get sick and can connect with nature. I also liked the twist on a culture and belief that others might think crazy. We find that many who do not have the same beliefs as we do may have the same reaction Miles constantly has toward Juneau. The banter in this series between Juneau and Miles was hilarious. You need to read this series if not for anything but the comedic banter alone.

After The End came off more fast paced for me then Until The Beginning. Until the Beginning started off with Miles who has been shot and needs to heal. They are both still on the run and trying to save Juneau's clan. I think with Miles down for a good portion of the beginning we did not get the same dialog I loved from the first. It does pick up towards the middle. I just found myself putting it down and then coming back. Amy's writing is still unique and is a voice that demands to be heard. She has a lot to say and the world should embrace it and listen.

If you are a dystopian fan and looking for a read outside the box then this is a must read series. Amy created something completely unique and intriguing. She created 2 very opinionated and strong characters in Miles and Juneau. I can not wait to see what Amy Plum writes next.

  1. I’ve read DIE FOR ME by Amy Plum (unfortunately even though I loved it I only read book 1 of the series). I’ve got AFTER THE END waiting for me on my shelf so I’ll probably go pick it up soon :) Great review for both books!
