Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the Tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.

And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the Tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.

Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?

For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.

And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love . . . or be killed himself.

As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear . . . the Crown’s Game is not one to lose.

Thank you Brittany's Book Rambles for sending me an ARC of The Crown's Game and including me in the tour. This in no way affected my opinion.

Yes, yes, yes. This book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. I have been dying to read The Crown's Game since I read the synopsis in the fall. I love Russian fantasy. This book did not disappoint and kept me captivated from start to finish. I could not put it down.

The relationships and character development were impeccable. I loved Pasha and his sister Yuliana's relationship to Pasha and Nikolai's friendship. We also kind of have a love square with 4 single ready to mingle eligible young people who are each drawn to different people. This makes for interesting predicaments. I am so hoping for more of Pasha's sister Yuliana in the next book. I love how strong she was. I was drawn to her and want to know more about her.

Vika has such amazing elemental abilities. The first glimpse we get from her she starts a lightning storm and sets the forest around her on fire and learns to control it by becoming the fire. This girls hair is fiery and her personality is fierce. I also find it great that even though she is attracted and drawn to the guys she has more important things going on with her. She is in a dual to death.

So Russia used to have lots of enchantresses but they became fewer and fewer and usually there is only one at a time but unknown to Nikolai and Vika there are 2 and can only be one winner for the Imperial Enchanter. Russia's magic can not be divided when the Imperial Enchanter will need all of it to protect the Tsar.

I am so hoping we get more of Vika's origin in this series because she is so awesome and I am obsessed with the fact her mom is a volcano nymph. This story literally had so many awesome aspects from everything I ever read and loved but Evelyn imagined it in such a stunning and magical way. Her world is vivid and breathtaking. The food from page 1 made me want to go bake. I literally baked all day after reading this book.

Ok so I can not leave out the dress because now I want to be an enchantress just to be able to conjure that dress. I mean wow! I am in love with snow and winter anyway so a dress made of the things I love and in such a masterful and magical way has made me swoon. I literally wanted to go draw a picture of this dress as soon as I read about it so every detail would not leave me.

Bring out the box of tissues cause Evelyn does not hold back on some tearjerker moments. I love it when an author can touch me in such a way that it brings me to tears and The Crown's Game did that more then once.

The Crown's Game is a visually captivating fantasy world that imprints on your soul and makes you never want to leave the world Evelyn has created. This is a must read that I will go back to over and over again.
