Johanna and Rafi are in a race against time to save their country before a power-mad Keeper destroys everything they hold dear in the “enthralling magical world” (Cinda Williams Chima, author of The Heir Chronicles) introduced in The Storyspinner.

As the last of the royal line, Johanna is the only person who can heal a magical breach in the wall that separates her kingdom of Santarem from the land of the Keepers, legendary men and women who wield elemental magic. The barrier protects Santarem from those Keepers who might try to take power over mere humans…Keepers who are determined to stop Johanna and seize the wall’s power for themselves.

And they’re not the only ones. As the duchys of Santarem descend into war over the throne, Johanna relies more than ever on the advice of her handsome companion, Lord Rafael DeSilva. But Rafi is a duke too, and his people come first. As their friendship progresses into the beginnings of a tender relationship, Johanna must wonder: is Rafi looking out for her happiness, or does he want the throne for himself?

With war on the horizon, Johanna and Rafi dodge treacherous dukes and Keeper assassins as they race to through the countryside, determined to strengthen the wall before it’s too late…even if it means sacrificing their happiness for the sake of their world.

Thank you Simon and Schuster for sending me a copy of The Skylighter for review. This in no way affected my opinion.

I read The Storyspinner and The Skylighter back to back and wow I flew through this series. Each book was unique and special on their own right. The Storyspinner was a great adventure tale full of magic and witty banter. The Skylighter has epic growth in maturity, strength, love and redemption. I was so blown away at the world building that was packed into these two books.

Right off the bat in The Skylighter we see Dom's growth as he is taken from the flirty fun loving boy with a sweet tooth to having to put on his big boy pants and learn to run a kingdom in his brothers absence. Dom's POV had some of the weightier moments as he had so much growth and political movements going all around him. Who can he trust in his brothers absence?

I love Johanna and Rafi. Their banter makes me so happy. She is not an insta-love kind of girl. She is independent and has been through enough loss to make her weary. Rafi is loyal and is determined to prove his sincere feelings to Johanna no matter how much she pushes him away. These two just made it out of the marshes at the end of The Storyspinner and they have so many more obstacles ahead of them.

Pira and Leao have probably the most to overcome. Pira was taken by the enemy at the end of The Storyspinner and they are not done with her not even close. Leao knows he has to find and protect the princess but his heart is drawing him to finding Pira.

Lastly there is Jacare and Vibora and we all know the climax has been building for these two to finally have their encounter and they do and I had all the feels from that moment.

If you are a fan of Maria V. Snyders Poison Study series as much as I am then you will devour The Keepers' Chronicles by Becky Wallace. This series has so many layers and delivers the perfect mix of magic, romance, and human nature. I am a huge fan and will enjoy reading this series again and again. This is a must read!

About Becky:
In second grade, Becky Wallace had to sit in the corner because she refused to write anything besides princess stories and fairy tales (and because she talked too much). Her time in isolation gave her plenty of opportunities to dream up the fantasy worlds she's been dabbling with ever since. She was lucky enough to find her own, real-life prince charming. They have four munchkins and live in a happy little town outside Houston, Texas.
