Synopsis:

In Orpheus Chanson's world, geniuses and prodigies are no longer born or honed through hard work. Instead, procedures to induce Acquired Savant Abilities (ASAs) are now purchased by the privileged. And Orpheus's father holds the copyright to the ASA procedure.

Zimri Robinson, a natural musical prodigy, is a "plebe"--a worker at the enormous warehouse that supplies an on-line marketplace that has supplanted all commerce. Her grueling schedule and her grandmother's illness can't keep her from making music--even if it is illegal.

Orpheus and Zimri are not supposed to meet. He is meant for greatness; she is not. But sometimes, rules are meant to be broken. Here is a thriller, love story, and social experiment that readers will find gripping--and terrifying.

Review:

Thank you Fierce Reads for sending me a copy of Gifted for review. This in no way affected my opinion.

Gifted was such a unique futuristic masterpiece with a southern feel. Zimri's character is strong, determined and gifted. She just has never had the opportunity to live the life of a Gifted being born and raised among the poor and working class. Where as Orpheus has had everything handed to him on a silver platter. Yet he soon discovers when everything has been handed to you then decisions are no longer your own but the people that give you the life you lead.

I adored the entire concept of this book. We love our freedom to express ourselves and what if everything we did whether art, music, writing was owned by corporations and was no longer your own. What if it was illegal to even listen, sing, read, draw, paint. Now this is about music but can be applied to so many avenues in our future to come.

This is a must read and will leave you appreciating the freedom of choices we have in the time we are in now.
