A million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the center of a cross-dimensional feud since she first traveled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

In the epic conclusion to Claudia Gray’s Firebird trilogy, fate and family will be questioned, loves will be won and lost, and the multiverse will be forever changed. It’s a battle of the Marguerites . . . and only one can win.

Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.
Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.
The second book in the Firebird trilogy, Ten Thousand Skies Above You features Claudia Gray’s lush, romantic language and smart, exciting action, and will have readers clamoring for the next book.

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Marguerite Caine, the daughter of two famous scientists, chases her father's killer into an alternate dimension with the help of her mother's invention, the Firebird. Once she had feelings for grad student Paul Markov, but his destruction of their data and violence against her father has made Marguerite hate him. With fellow grad student Theo by her side, she escapes to a futuristic London and tracks down Paul, who admits to sabotaging the project. But Paul's as shocked as she is to hear of Henry Caine's death. If he didn't kill her father, who did? And why did he commit sabotage and run?

She next chases him to a Russia where the czars still rule, where technology is a century behind, and where she's supposedly a princess—one guarded by Lieutenant Markov, who remembers only this universe and is secretly, desperately in love with her. Marguerite falls for him too, even spending the night with him in a snowbound dacha. But is she in love with one man or two? She's no closer to understand what happened to her father, or what Paul's real motives are.

After that world's Lieutenant Markov is killed, Marguerite leaps into a world almost exactly like her own, except that her parents have already won their Nobel Prize. It's bittersweet to be reunited with her dad, and confusing to learn that Paul has betrayed her parents in this world, too. When she confides in Theo, he tells her she's a fool to trust Paul, then tries to kiss her. But Marguerite pushes him away. The next day, Theo takes her to the headquarters of Triad, the corporation funding her parents research. While she's there, she gets a text from Paul telling her to run, because what Triad and its tech titan CEO Wyatt Conley are really after…is Marguerite herself.

She meets up with Paul in downtown San Francisco, where he explains that her ability to travel through the dimensions is greater than most people's, all thanks to an experiment Conley clandestinely ran on her. Triad wants to dominate the multiverse. Marguerite would be their weapon, and through her, Conley hopes to control her parents as well. Paul destroyed all the data in an attempt to protect Marguerite from Conley's plot. He says he has one more universe he has to search, though he refuses to tell her why. Marguerite intends to follow him—but before they leap away, they share one perfect kiss.

Marguerite next appears in a world almost entirely covered with water, where her parents run a deep-sea station. There she realizes that her father hasn't actually been killed at all—his body vanished when his consciousness was kidnapped through the dimensions and hidden in the Henry Caine of this universe. Her reunion with her father seems perfect until Theo appears and is revealed to have been betraying them all along…because he isn't the Theo from her own universe at all. He's another version, one working against them all. Marguerite manages to escape from him and reunite with Paul. In the end, they all return to their home universe. Henry comes back to his family; the real Theo is finally free of the spy from another dimension; and Marguerite and Paul find each other again, ready at last to be together.

About Claudia:

Claudia Gray is a pseudonym. I would like to say that I chose another name so that no one would ever learn the links between my shadowy, dramatic past and the explosive secrets revealed through my characters. This would be a lie. In truth, I took a pseudonym simply because I thought it would be fun to choose my own name. (And it is.)
I write novels full-time, absolutely love it, and hope to be able to do this forever. My home is in New Orleans, is more than 100 years old, and is painted purple. In my free time I read, travel, hike, cook and listen to music. You can keep up with my latest releases, thoughts on writing and various pop-culture musings via TwitterTumblrPinterestGoodreads or (of course) my own home page.
If you want to contact me, you can email me, but your best bet is probably to Tweet me. I don’t do follows on Twitter, but I follow everyone back on Tumblr, Pinterest and Goodreads.
