Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Synopsis:

Shalia is a proud daughter of the desert, but after years of devastating war with the adjoining kingdom, her people are desperate for peace. Willing to trade her freedom to ensure the safety of her family, Shalia becomes Queen of the Bonelands.

But she soon learns that her husband, Calix, is motivated only by his desire to exterminate the Elementae—mystical people who can control earth, wind, air, and fire. Even more unsettling are Shalia’s feelings for her husband’s brother, which unleash a power over the earth she never knew she possessed—a power that could get her killed. As rumors of a rebellion against Calix spread, Shalia must choose between the last chance for peace and her own future as an Elementae.

This intense, richly drawn high-fantasy by the author of Scarletwill hold readers spellbound.

Which strong women would I choose to Reign the Earth with?

Since I was a little girl I looked up to the fierce writer behind the stories to the magical Dragons of Pern series. These books were unlike anything I had ever read and I was entranced. Much later in my life I would discover just how magical and inspiring Anne McCaffrey was herself. She paved the way for women writers. The first to win many awards.

So just like Shaila in Reign the Earth they both are strong willed and loyal. Anne joined her son in writing many of the Pern books later in her life. She shared her world and love for creation with those closes to her. Collaboration is the sign of a good leader.

Anyone who can create something from just their mind is a person I want to have by my side to Reign the Earth because then the skies the limit. We could do anything and paint the world all the colors, even the ones not thought of yet.

So who would you want to Reign the Earth with?

Review:

Thank you Bloomsbury publishing for sending me a copy of Reign the Earth for review. This in no way affected my opinion.

Reign the Earth was magical and emotional. This book featured abuse which is something close to my heart since I experienced a situation similar to Shaila. Books do not feature abuse very often and if they do they are usually heavy contemporaries that are full of triggers for most that are going through abuse or have been through it.

Ok so with that being said this book also had an amazing story line full of growth, strength and loss and how to over come every obstacle thrown at you. Shalia becomes one of the strongest characters I have read on the page. Sometimes strength is more then a battle between people but is an internal battle.

It dealt with sensitive subject matter that is important and was dealt with in a way that was not trigger heavy. I am such a fan of this story. This was also a 5 Star read!

About the Author:

I am shamelessly addicted to staying up far too late (it feels like stealing time), diet coke (it burns so good), Scotland (stupid country stole my heart and won't give it back. Interpol has been ineffective for prosecution) and thieves (so I guess I'm not that mad at Scotland).

  1. Great review! I'm going to love this character too. I enjoy reading internal battles and find them to be the plot conflict in my favorite books. The cover is stunning and the instagram photos are amazing.
